HUSKIMO INFORMATION
-
Why is the adoption fee so high?Huskimo puppies range from $800-1800 dollars depending on the quality of the breeder and local competition. Although we consider ourselves to be top quality and there are no other like breeders in New York, we set our price on the lower end to make our puppies more affordable because to us finding the right home is more important than the money we make. If this price is out of your range, send us a message and we can discuss options, however it does cost us money out of pocket to do this and we cannot offer prices as low as a shelter can.
-
Is a Huskimo a good family dog?Yes! Huskimos are known to be friendly dogs that are good with people, kids, and other pets. As part Siberian Husky, these dogs make good companions and love to be around people. American Eskimos have been circus bred dogs and from this side of their family tree they are easy to train and eager to please.
-
What are important concerns to know about this breed?Huskimos are very energetic dogs and require frequent exercise. If you are considering adoption, please be prepared to walk your dog at least 3 times a week. This breed's fur tends to be medium-long and your dog will require more grooming and maintenance than shorthair canines. Regular brushing can prevent most household shedding. Once or twice a year you will experience increased shedding as your dog loses their coat to prepare for a new season. As a mixed breed, Huskimos are a relatively healthy dog breed and our dogs have been screened for any potential health issues or genetic defects that could potentially be passed to puppies. But like most dogs their size, a typical issue that can arise despite these precautions is based on their joints. Preventative measures can be taken by keeping your dog well exercised, feeding them good food, and supplements and vitamins for their joints can also be provided.
-
How big will the puppies grow to be?I cannot provide an exact measurement as to how much your puppy will weigh or how tall they will be once fully grown, but Huskimos typically weigh between 30-60 pounds and are considered a Medium-Large breed. Adopted families of our previous litters have reported to us that their puppies grew to be about 49 lbs and that is the best estimate we can provide for our litters.
